Spinal Nerve Function
The entire body is controlled by the nervous system, which is basically the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. The brain sends a message down the spinal cord, out to the nerves, and on to the muscles and organs. The organs and muscles send signals back through the spinal cord to the brain. When the spine is not moving or functioning properly--this can be with or without pain in the back-- it can reduce the abilities of the nervous system and lead to disease in the body.
Example: The nerves between vertebrae T5 and T6 are responsible for the stomach and its function. Many times a chiropractic adjustment to the T5 and T6 area (mid back) can help reduce or eliminate stomach problems. Take a look at the chart and see where each organ is related to the spine. Just start on the left of the chart below and move to the right. Chiropractic is about far more than just back pain!
